The Mathematics Preparation for PHYS1210 and Clinical Audiology bridging microcredential will provide you with a solid foundation in maths you will require for university studies in physics or clinical audiology. In addition, it will afford you the opportunity to get to know your fellow students, as well as the academics you will be learning from throughout your studies.

Who should attend

This bridging microcredential is suitable for students from various mathematical backgrounds intending to enrol in the PHYS1210 Physics for Life Sciences unit. This unit requires students to have either an HSC Mathematics Standard 2 Band 5 and above, an HSC Mathematics Advanced Band 3 and above, or an HSC Extension 1 or Extension 2 Band E2 and above. If you have not successfully completed one of these subjects, you’ll need to undertake this bridging microcredential prior to enrolling in the unit.

The PHYS1210 Physics for Life Sciences is a highly recommended unit in the following degrees and majors:

  • Bachelor of Chiropractic Science
  • Bachelor of Medical Sciences - Anatomy and Physiology major
  • Highly recommended unit for those intending to sit the GAMSAT and are enrolled in Bachelor of Clinical Science

If you’re planning to undertake the Master of Clinical Audiology and you haven’t studied maths recently, we recommend you complete this bridging microcredential

Richard Garner

Richard Garner is an Associate Professor in Mathematics here at Macquarie. He grew up in the UK, did his PhD at Cambridge, and worked as a mathematician around Europe before moving to Sydney in 2011. He's a keen teacher who genuinely enjoys helping students feel at home with mathematics, and a past awardee of a Student-Nominated Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Award. His aim in this course is simple: to get you comfortable speaking the language of mathematics, so you can apply it with confidence to the science you want to do.
