About this Microcredential

Studies in the expansive field of computing encompass a diverse and dynamic range of areas, including, AI, cybersecurity, game design, data science, information systems, networking, software technology, and web and app development.

The Computing Preparation bridging microcredential is ideal if you didn’t study a computing subject at HSC level and you’re commencing the Bachelor of Cyber Security, the Bachelor of Game Design and Development, or the Bachelor of Information Technology. It will be equally valuable if you’re simply seeking to build confidence in computing skills or refresh your knowledge of foundational programming and computer usage concepts.

Who should attend

This bridging microcredential is suitable for students intending to enrol in the Bachelor of Cyber Security, the Bachelor of Game Design and Development, or the Bachelor of Information Technology but who didn’t study computing at HSC level, for those needing to gain confidence in computing or for those wanting a refresher in computing.

There are no prerequisites to undertake this bridging microcredential.

Who you will learn from

Carl is a lecturer in the School of Computing who teaches into the software engineering, information systems, networking, and cyber security curricula. He has worked on various curriculum initiatives across the Faculty and has previously been a member of Academic Senate and it's curriculum governance comittee. He is also a keen volunteer with the FIRST Robotics programs that promotes STEM education in primary and secondary school students

On successful completion of this bridging microcredential you’ll be able to:

Demonstrate your knowledge of fundamental computing logic by writing simple programs.
Demonstrate your foundational programming skills and your readiness to successfully pursue higher education studies in computer science.

Pathway to further study at Macquarie

Completing this microcredential does not grant entry into an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Macquarie University through Recognition Prior Learning (RPL). It is designed to provide you with the academic background needed for entry into an undergraduate degree offered by the School of Computing at Macquarie University.
Note: Entry into award courses requires all eligibility requirements to be met.
