Overview

About this Microcredential

English is increasingly used as the medium of instruction in universities, secondary schools and primary schools in countries where English is not the first language. The growing global phenomenon of EMI, content and language integrated learning (CLIL) and bilingual education, is a result of increased globalisation and the internationalisation of education.

The Fundamentals of Teaching English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) microcredential provides teaching practitioners with the skills to deliver content classes in the language of English. You’ll investigate language and teaching strategies that support effective student engagement and motivation, explore pronunciation and clarity standards, and learn how to design class activities to support multilingual students by following the lead of reflective teaching practitioners. This microcredential is self-paced and promotes reflective practice.
